Introducing Gab, the character we created for our short film made in our second year of studies at NAD-UQAC. Bringing the character to life was a group effort in which our team of 5 was involved. I was responsible for Gab's head, body (except the hands), and facial expression blendshapes. I also worked on facial animation and the hoodie's backpatch design.

Modeling, blendshapes and animation of our character, Gab, for our second-year student film project at NAD-UQÀC.

I sculpted several shapes isolating eyes, mouth and brows, to give us as much freedom as possible with the animation, and some more global ones for quickly animating expressions such as happiness, fear and surprise. I used a basemesh as a starting point for the head and I studied Gary Faigin's Guide to Facial Expression, which has been a precious ressource to build this project.

Rigging by Étienne L'Italien and textures by Florence Turmel. <3

I designed the backpatch of our character Gab's hoodie, with a handdrawn lettering and a graphic editing of a painting by Goya.
