Little shatter FX made with Houdini, inspired by the Shikkon Jewel from Inuyasha. I then made some compositing in Nuke and After effects for the shader transition and to add lighting effects, for which I used 2D stock footage of explosion that I modified to achieve more of an anime/magic vibe.
